BEHIND THE MICROPHONES

Meet Lee & Bob.

Two friends, a shared obsession with the past, and an incurable need to ask what really happened.

◆

Deep History begins where the familiar version of a story ends. Lee Carter and Bob Foster follow the clues into forgotten people, overlooked places and strange details and bring what they find to the microphone for a conversation that is researched*, curious and never too reverent.

“Researched” might be a strong term, but “we looked into some things” didn’t have quite the same ring to it.

Lee Carter

Researcher. Storyteller. Connector of dots.

A journalist at heart and relentless history enthusiast, Lee has a knack for connecting forgotten people, overlooked places and surprising events into stories that make the past feel alive. He leads listeners down the rabbit hole, follows the evidence wherever it goes and asks the question at the center of every episode: what have we been missing?

Bob Foster

History enthusiast. Storyteller. Collector of fascinating facts.

Bob brings a deep store of knowledge, an instinct for the detail that changes a story and the wit to keep even the darkest rabbit hole human. His best questions often begin where the script stops, turning meticulous research into the kind of conversation that makes you say, “Wait—did that actually happen?”

THE CONVERSATION

Research meets
“Wait... What?”

The show is built on the tension between what the record says and what the story means. Lee and Bob research and assemble each journey together, then leave room for the detours, disagreements, discoveries and dry humor that happen when two curious people compare notes.

No lectures. No recitation of dates. Just the clues, the context and a conversation about the history hiding in plain sight.

“History gets interesting when the story you know gives way to the story you never heard.”
